The February issue of "Soft Talk" had an advertisement for a very exciting product called The Word Processor. This program is put out by Ken Ochel and his partner. The Word Processor is supplied on 9 diskettes and contains the entire text of the King James version using both sides of 8 diskettes. The ninth diskette contains the actual programs, The Word Processor, including a control option which lets you choose the disk and printer slots, the left and right margin, line spacing, line count, and page size, the maximum search size up to 1277 references, and whether you want to display text on the full screen or one verse at a time.
When running the program, it asks you for the text range you wish to work with. You may choose from one verse to the entire text of the Bible. You then have two options for working with the text. The Text option allows you to choose a range within the initial range or to work within the entire range. You may scroll up and down the text, go to the top or bottom of the range, or reference a specific text. The print command will allow you to print the text at the top of the screen. The Scan feature allows you to enter words or phrases you would like to search for within the text range. As it finds each text, it is displayed on the screen where it may be printed. By pressing the S key, you can continue searching through the text range until your search is completed. Successive verses may be printed as they are found.If you should get lost in the program or decide to change your mind on entering a command, you may press the escape key or the asterisk to return to the main menu. This will work at almost any time except when the program is expecting a YES or NO input. The program also has a very helpful instruction set which you may access if you forget how to use a particular command. Simply return to the main menu, type a question mark and the help option appears on the screen. You may then choose the particular command you would like more information on.
